It’s a match made in heaven that Phoenicians will soon revel in on a whole new level thanks to a collaboration between beloved local brands Peixoto Coffee and Chacónne Pâtisserie.

“We are excited to share that we are opening a coffee and pâtisserie shop in Downtown Phoenix [in] late summer… alongside chef Mark Chacón,” says Julia Peixoto Peters, who co-owns Peixoto Coffee with husband Jeff Peters, in an exclusive interview. “This is a unique model for us, where we are partnering in our respective passions to bring our high-quality products under the same roof.”

Peixoto Peters celebrated the 10th anniversary of her pioneering Chandler coffee shop in January. Peixoto Coffee was the first in the state to import and roast beans grown on its own family farm, a compelling story we shared in 2015. After years of demand from customers, Peixoto Peters opened a second location in Gilbert’s Epicenter at Agritopia in 2022.

Pastry chef Mark Chacón made an immediate splash upon opening his pastry shop as an order-ahead, pickup-only ghost kitchen in late 2021 – by February 2022, he’d been named a James Beard Award Semi-Finalist for Outstanding Pastry Chef. We profiled him shortly afterward. In late 2024, he announced his first retail storefront open for walk-ins in Scottsdale, to overwhelming praise from devotees of his ethereally flaky almond croissants and sculptural cardamom buns.

These titans of the local food and beverage industry have worked together since Peixoto Coffee began featuring Chacónne pastries in its cases. Plans for something bigger began to coalesce last year, when Peixoto Peters and Chacón found the perfect location at the corner of Garfield and Fifth streets.

“Customers can expect a beautifully designed space with full-scale baking operations and retail pâtisserie,” Peixoto Peters says. “Alongside a Peixoto Coffee coffee bar serving our family coffees, seasonal beverages and even some exclusive creations celebrating this exciting partnership at this location.”

An exact opening date has yet to be determined.
