Arizona State University’s 15th Annual Ceramic Studio Tour launches February 20 and 21. The artists throw open their studio doors for the weekend and welcome all comers. Alight at artistic private work-spaces and partake of the wizardry live, up close and very personal.

Pre-tour sneak peak: Take a gander at University of Tennessee Professor Emeritus Sandy Blain’s highly textured pieces. She imprints the clay with tools, in and out of the box. Drink from a handmade mug or put flowers in a vase to add beauty to her art. Her mugs will only set you back around $50, and her larger pieces start at $165. Blain will be at her studio for the entire tour and demo “Slab Vessels” on Saturday February 20, at 10:30 am. Reach her at sandyblain.com or sblain@cox.net.

Deborah Hodder’s art is no secret. Her work at the Five15 gallery was recently spotlighted by the PHiX. Her sculptures-in-the-round claim center stage on any table, providing a cool view for all vantage points. She will demo “Handbuilding Techniques” in her studio on Sunday February 21, at 1 p.m. See her work at deborahhodder.com or follow her on Instagram @djhmfa and contact her directly for pricing (vases start at $200).
