311
Earlier this year, 311 guitarist Tim Mahoney and the band’s drummer, Chad Sexton, formed a side project with longtime producer Scotch Ralston. The group, dubbed Sun Will Shine, will explore the musicians’ jammier side. But not to worry: The pride of Omaha, Nebraska is still going strong. Led by frontman Nick Hexum, 311 is creeping up on 40 years of delivering hits like “Down” and “Amber.” 7:30 p.m. Check website for ticket prices. Arizona Financial Theatre, 400 W. Oingo Boingo Former Members
Many new wave bands in the Los Angeles underground in the late 1970s lost their edge when they hit the mainstream the following decade. But not Oingo Boingo. Its fast-paced mix of ska and punk, with subversive lyrics, raised the eyebrows of a few parent groups. After appearing on the soundtracks to seemingly every teen comedy from the early 1980s, the “Dead Man’s Party” legends disbanded in 1995 as frontman Danny Elfman began composing film music full time. However, since 2005, many of his bandmates (and some new members) have continued to perform the group’s songs under the moniker Oingo Boingo Former Members, selling out venues across the nation 7:30 p.m. $41.56-$89.04. Gilla Band
If you like your post-punk dark and witty, then this Irish quartet is for you. The loud, droning tracks on its latest album, titled Pugnello, could be the soundtrack to your favorite paranoid thriller. But the lyrics are acid-tongued poetry, taking aim at everything from Coldplay to your mid-life crisis. It’s hard to know whether to laugh, cry or mosh.7:30 p.m. $34.75. Valley Bar, 130 N. Central Ave., Phoenix, 602-368-3121, valleybarphx.com

Noise in the Desert 2026
Downtown Mesa is about to get loud. Local punk and hardcore label Solly Ink Records has assembled a lineup of eight bands for its indoor music festival. Sundressed is headlining, with Winterhaven, Phil the Band, Phantom Spring, Suit Yourself, R-Nøt, Sunthrown and Tridon rounding out the bill. You can also shop local vendors and sample food trucks between sets. 3:30 p.m. $20-$25 plus fees. The Rosetta Room, 104 E. First Ave., Mesa, therosettaroom.com

The Musical Box
As many progressive music nerds know, Peter Gabriel led Genesis in the early 1970s, often dressing up in bizarre costumes while singing songs about masturbation and the Book of Revelation. But Genesis didn’t immediately go pop after its former frontman’s departure. Before meditating (epically!) on intangibility with “Invisible Touch,” the British rock band elevated drummer Phil Collins to lead singer, writing songs about mythical creatures and mystical lands. The Musical Box, a tribute act known for lovingly recreating Genesis concerts from the Gabriel era, is now shifting its focus to the band’s early-Collins phase, performing tracks from A Trick of the Tail and Duke, among others. 7:30 p.m. $46.84-$83.76.
