Scottsdale 4th of July
July 4

Everybody loves fireworks, but watching them on a scorching hot Arizona evening is no fun for anyone. Luckily, you can enjoy one of the state’s largest pyrotechnic displays in comfortable air conditioning. There’s also plenty of fabulous family fun, including a bull-riding rodeo, mutton busting for the kids, a slider eating contest, old-fashioned cakewalks and fantastic food. Fourth of July Freedom Fest
July 2-5

To beat the heat this Fourth of July weekend, head to the Scottsdale Princess resort to watch the fireworks poolside or enjoy a movie during a refreshing dip. There will also be concerts, Arizona’s largest drone display and an air show featuring vintage military planes piloted by retired veterans. Check website for details. Arizona Celebration of Freedom
July 4

Flagstaff Art in the Park
July 3-5

See beautiful works of art in the shade of the pine trees in downtown Flagstaff. More than 80 creatives from across the Southwest will display and sell their paintings as well as some one-of-a-kind handcrafted items and jewelry. World’s Oldest Rodeo
Through July 5

For nearly 140 years, the city of Prescott has hosted this event that shows audiences what cowboys do best: riding broncos, roping calves and wrestling steers. But this year, organizers will also be celebrating America’s birthday with the theme Celebrating 250 Years of Freedom. PHOENIX Magazine Summer Cocktail Camp

This summer, spend your Sunday afternoons sipping some of the coolest drinks in town. Editor-in-chief Craig Outhier is hosting a 14-week, rotating event featuring the Valley’s top mixologists.
