January is National Soup Month! Which local delights will you be slurping?

“The first one that leaps out of my long-term memory is the creamy, coconut-y sopa de caracol at Taste of Honduras in the Christown area, but in terms of personal volume consumption, it’s gotta be the hot-and-sour at China Chili, which is deliciously flecked with barbecued pork and wood ear mushrooms.”

— Craig Outhier, editor

“I am a soup fiend! Just a few of my favorites: the beef- and bean-rich grah at Old Town Sarajevo; the comforting pozole rojo at Gallo Blanco; the healing, gingery rice soup at Taste of Thai; and any of the rotatings soups at Mingle + Graze, though my fave is the creamy (yet vegan!) spiced carrot and coconut.”

— Leah LeMoine, managing editor

“Gallo Blanco has an incredible vegan pozole that warms my plant-based heart and palate. Bonus: It’s made with local, farm-fresh veggies from McClendon’s Select!”

— Madison Rutherford, associate editor

“There are so many yummy soups in the Valley, but since the cold has crept in I’ve been craving something hot and hearty. Linda’s Tortilla Soup at Gadzooks is calling my tastebuds! You can mix up the ingredients to cater to different moods, but it always hits with that yummy, savory broth and crunchy tortilla strips.”

— Mirelle Inglefield, art director

“‘The taco soup from My Mother’s Restaurant is the best taco soup I have ever tried! There is so much flavor, and the lovely crispiness of the tortillas on top is the best crunchy bite to end on.”

— Angelina Aragon, managing art director
