From traditional preparations to modern takes, these restaurants specialize in the wide-ranging flavors of Colombia, Puerto Rico and Venezuela.

La Tiendita

Owner German Prado runs a Colombian grocery and restaurant featuring traditional dishes from the old country. He’ll insist you try small fried empanadas served with a thin cilantro and jalapeño sauce, and arepas – thick, griddled corn cakes filled with oozy, salty white cheese.

Millie’s Café

Homesick Puerto Ricans can find delicious solace at this tiny, family-owned cafe, but newbies will also delight in traditional Puerto Rican fare including mofongo, tostones, arroz con gandules and the jibarito, a sandwich that substitutes crisp, garlicky fried plantains for the bread.

Que Chevere

Owned by husband and wife Orvid Cutler and Maria Fernanda, this restaurant evolved from a popular food truck. Now, arepas, empanadas and unique sandwiches can be enjoyed in a
charming spot.
