Forma Plastic Surgery

Board-certified surgeons David C Yao, Vas N. Sabeeh and Molly F. Walsh are the co-founders of Forma Plastic Surgery in Scottsdale. Named after the Latin word for beauty, Forma is known for emphasizing a comprehensive patient-surgeon relationship, ensuring patients are always fully educated on procedures and comfortable with their treatment plans and aesthetic goals.

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation is a procedure that makes the breasts fuller in appearance with the help of implants. Patients whose breasts have been affected by aging, nursing or weight loss, or who would simply like to enlarge their breasts for aesthetic reasons, could benefit from this procedure.

Gynecomastia Treatment

Men with gynecomastia have abnormal breast tissue growth, resulting in what is commonly referred to as “man boobs.” This can be a result of hormonal changes, weight loss, weight gain, the use of certain medications or drugs, or heredity. Surgical treatment for gynecomastia reduces excess breast tissue and allows men to achieve a more masculine appearance.

Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty allows for the removal and lifting of excess skin around the eyes. The procedure can be performed on the upper and lower eyelids to remove sagging skin and under-eye bags, creating a youthful appearance.

Facelift

One of the most common procedures performed at Forma Plastic Surgery is the facelift. Facelifts can be administered to target saggy skin, wrinkles and fine lines. There are multiple different techniques that can be used to perform a facelift, depending on the skin elasticity and age of a particular client, but all achieve the same result of a more youthful-looking face.

Rhinoplasty

A rhinoplasty alters the appearance of a patient’s nose. This can be for medical purposes, such as fixing a deviated septum or straightening a previously broken nose, or for purely aesthetic purposes, changing the shape and size of the nose. The end result is a fully functional nose that matches each client’s desired look.

Mommy Makeover

Pregnancy and childbirth are hard on the body. Mommy makeovers help mothers regain their pre-pregnancy body, using a blend of liposuction, skin removal and skin tightening depending on the intended results. This procedure helps slim and reshape mothers’ breasts, stomachs, lower bodies and/or any other areas on the body that were affected by pregnancy.

Post-Weight-Loss Surgery

People who lose a significant amount of weight often are left with excess skin, which can cause physical discomfort and, potentially, medical issues. After-weight-loss surgery removes this excess skin and helps patients feel comfortable in their new bodies.

Skin Procedures

Forma Plastic Surgery is also home to a med spa that offers treatments such as microneedling, chemical peels, dermaplaning and facials to address various skin needs.

Injectables

Botox, Juvederm and Kybella injectables are available at Forma Plastic Surgery to reduce fine lines, add volume to cheeks and decrease the look of a double chin.

Jennifer Boll, M.D.

At the office of Dr. Jennifer Boll, located in Tempe, the staff’s goal is to create a caring, comfortable environment for their patients. Boll herself makes sure to fully inform her patients about all of their surgical and non-surgical options and specializes each procedure to their unique preferences and body types to boost their self esteem.

Brow Lift

Brow lifts can help reduce forehead wrinkles, frown lines or drooping eyebrows. Incisions are made at or near the hairline to reposition and tighten the tissue, resulting in a smoother forehead and lifted eyebrows.

Earlobe Repair

Earlobe rips, tears and splits, commonly caused by earrings, can be fixed with natural results through surgical repair. Earlobes can also be reduced in size if desired.

Neck Contouring and Liposuction

The neck is one of the first places where signs of aging occur. Neck contouring and liposuction help to reduce the signs of aging by tightening the skin under the jaw and on the neck, restoring youthful contours. This procedure can also remove unwanted fat under the chin, such as double chins.

Otoplasty

Otoplasty is an option for patients who are uncomfortable with the size, shape or position of their ears. This procedure fixes these issues to restore facial symmetry and achieve the patient’s desired ear appearance.

Breast Reduction

Overly large breasts can cause intense discomfort, such as back pain, neck pain and breast pain. They can also hinder one’s confidence in their appearance. Breast reduction procedures help reduce these struggles by removing excess fat and skin from the breasts, reshaping them to be smaller and more manageable.

Body Lift

Whether because of pregnancy, weight loss or aging, excess skin can accumulate on the thighs, midsection and buttocks. Body lifts remove this for a more contoured body.

Panniculectomy

Panniculectomies focus directly on the abdomen, targeting loose skin that may be present due to weight loss, pregnancy, other surgeries or hereditary factors. With this procedure, excess skin is surgically removed, leading to a smoother-looking stomach.

Alma Harmony XL Laser

On top of surgical procedures, Boll’s office provides access to the Harmony XL treatment platform by Alma Lasers to address a variety of needs, including laser hair removal and laser skin resurfacing.

Dermal Fillers and Injectables

Non-surgical procedures like fillers and injectables provide a less invasive cosmetic procedure. Boll’s office provides a variety of different types of injectables and fillers to fulfill clients’ non-surgical needs.

About the Arizona Society of Plastic Surgeons

The Arizona Society of Plastic Surgeons is a group of cosmetic surgeons, all of whom are board-certified, that provides education and resources to surgeons throughout Arizona. They have monthly networking meetups and a quarterly newsletter.

How to Pick a Surgeon

One of the most important things to do when choosing a surgeon is check whether they’re board-certified or not. The American Board of Plastic Surgery certifies surgeons based on training and quality of care. Choosing a board-certified cosmetic surgeon ensures that you will get quality treatment and quality results. You can check if a surgeon is certified by looking them up on
certificationmatters.com or by looking for the Arizona Society of Plastic Surgeons logo, since the only surgeons who can join the AzSPS are board-certified ones.

What Does it Mean to be Board-Certified?

When a surgeon is board-certified, it means that they have passed a list of  rigorous requirements and been certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and/or the American Board of Surgery. These requirements include graduating from medical school, completing an internship, completing residency, completing extra training related to their field and passing a state-licensed exam in their specialty. Board-certification shows that a surgeon is up-to-date and fully trained on the procedures necessary to practice cosmetic surgery.

Cosmetic Surgery Post-Pandemic

According to the American Society for Plastic Surgeons, in 2022, 76 percent of surveyed cosmetic surgeons saw an increased demand for cosmetic procedures after the COVID-19 pandemic compared to what they saw pre-pandemic. Some of the reasons cited were that recovery is easier now that more people are working from home and people have more money to spend on cosmetic surgery now that they’re not paying as much to travel.
