Best Workout

Ability360 Sports & Fitness Center

Ability360 is the most gorgeous gym you can imagine, with a pristine pool, stunning climbing wall and every piece of equipment on the list. But the best part is that this workout facility is specifically designed for people with all kinds of disabilities. The infamous “murderball” wheelchair rugby team trains here – but so can you. The whole thing is open to the public and membership fees are affordable. Definitely the place to break a sweat. 5031 E. Washington St., Phoenix, 602-386-4566, ability360.org/sports

Best Eco-Friendly Gym

Off the Grid Fitness

Arizona’s first “green” gym packs an environmental punch. Group fitness classes rock here, but eco-mindfulness stands out – particularly the reused construction materials (doors, fans, flooring made from recycled rubber) used to erect the place. Green cleaning products, reduced water usage and a community to gather and learn about green initiatives round out the mix. 10050 N. Scottsdale Rd., Scottsdale, 480-483-0184, offthegridfitness.com

Most Unique Boating Experience

Donut Boats

Tempe Town Lake’s “donut boats” look like floating Krispy Kremes – plump, round and bearing names like Sprinkles and Fritter. Each boat seats 10 people, comes with a picnic table and is canopied by a bright umbrella. You can bring your own food and non-alcoholic drinks, plus your favorite Spotify playlist to cue up on the boat’s Bluetooth speaker. It’s a party on a doughnut. 72 W. Rio Salado Pkwy., Tempe, 855-690-0794, boats4rent.com/tempe-az/tempe-town

Best City Hike

Mohave Connector/Quartz Ridge

We love the Summit Trail at Piestewa Peak, but let’s be honest: It’s a giant Stairmaster, and everybody and their sister seems to be there during peak hiking season. Instead of fighting the mob, be smart and cross to the other side of Piestewa Peak Drive, where you’ll find this lesser-known, slightly-less-vertical but more ecologically diverse trail. During winter, you’ll even find lichen on its sheltered north-facing rocks. Lichen in Phoenix! It’s a miracle. phoenix.gov

Best Bargain Yoga

Hot Yoga University

Doling out money for the ever-popular hot yoga? Don’t sweat it. Drop in here any day, any time, for only $15. “Self-care impacts our daily lives:; physically, emotionally, mentally and more,” says HYU co-owner Effie Densberger. “Offering affordable yoga makes self-care accessible.” Variety abounds here, including Hot Hatha, Yasa, Vinyasa, Pilates and more. 2501 N.
