Among AZW’s most admired offerings is its flagship Indian Pale Ale, Refuge – essentially the brewery’s version of a West Coast-style IPA, one of beerdom’s hottest sub-genres. Hoppier than rank-and-file American IPAs, the style is almost a different breed than its archetypal, mildly hopped namesake that originated on British trade ships in the 19th century. Using hop varieties hailing from the Pacific Northwest – cascade, centennial, simcoe and columbus – to deliver aromas of pine tips and pineapple, the AZW braintrust has anointed Refuge as its first canned offering, so you can relive sips of the heavily bitter, layered beer at home. Instead of wooden ships, AZW is using steely 32 oz. cans to deliver its flagship brew to your fridge.
The $10 cans are available only at the AZW brewery. A destination can, for sure.
