“The building is owned by my friend Ray Klemp, who presented me with the opportunity,” says Zischke, “And it’s beautiful. It’s a modernized adobe style, sage green in color, and has north-facing windows for a great view.” Klemp also owns Arroyo Vodka next door. “There’s a window in the gallery that allows a peek into the distillery,” Zischke says.
Most importantly, Zischke says “it is the perfect place to showcase my work, as well as the work of other artists.” Zischke himself works in various mediums, from painting to photography. He’s also completed many notable public art projects, many of which highlight his incorporation of technology into visual art pieces.
For instance, he recently installed GemTones in the outdoor space between the Scottsdale Performing Arts Center (SCPA) and the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA) for their illuminated debut at the SPCA’s annual gala. These pieces are made from water jet-cut aluminum and coated in transparent automotive paint. The pieces are internally lit to create an intriguing, colorful effect. The gallery will show a mix of his creations. “It’s where high-tech and low-tech meet,” says Zischke.
Currently, some of the work at Art | Object includes metal sculptures by Lyle London, and Michael Anderson’s forged steel pieces. The gallery will schedule changing exhibitions and special events throughout the season.
