The Flagstaff fall foliage show usually begins in late September on the Inner Basin Trail.
One of the most scenic segments of the state-traversing Arizona Trail, the route goes through shady fir forests and alpine meadows.
Enjoy a bird’s-eye view at Arizona Snowbowl Ski Resort with one of the resort’s off-season lift rides. The lift line ascends the western side of the San Francisco Peaks to an elevation of 10,800 feet, affording views of the red rocks in Sedona, a cinder cone volcanic field and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. 10 a.m.-4 p.m. daily through Aug. 15; F-Su, Aug. 16-Sept. 27 (weather permitting). $16-$20; free, children 5 and younger....
