In characteristically bloody and salacious fashion, Max’s White Lotus recently wrapped up its third season, leaving one question for fans of the premium-cable soap opera: Where to next? Set in a fictional luxury resort chain called White Lotus (think One&Only with a dash of Ritz-Carlton), the series changes venues each season. Coastal Sicily one year, Thailand the next. Crazy thought: Could it come to the U.S. Southwest? We handicapped.

Tulum/Mexico

Greater Cancún checks all the boxes. There hasn’t been a Latin American White Lotus yet, plus it’s on the beach, is overrun with entitled Americans and boasts the kind of prickly social dynamics (cartels, sweetheart!) series creator Mike White loves. Odds: 5-1

Caribbean Islands

See “Tulum/Mexico.” As a thought experiment, can you imagine Seasons 1 and 2 moneybags dowager Tanya McQuoid (Jennifer Coolidge) in Jamaica? Season 3 preppy sociopath Saxon Ratliff (Patrick Schwarzenegger) in the DR? Must-watch TV. Odds: 4-1

Africa

The toniest, most White Lotus-esque beach resorts are in Cape Town, South Africa, and Mozambique, but a high-dollar eco-resort in Tanzania built around safari experiences might make for a compelling Season 4 change of pace. Odds: 10-1

Wyoming/Montana

Or a ski-themed White Lotus, set in a Rocky Mountain-adjacent resort town like Jackson, Wyoming, or Big Sky, Montana? One could imagine White going for that – his pansexual, Jacobin counterpunch to Yellowstone. Odds: 15-1

Arizona/Utah

Hear us out. We have obscene luxury. We have manufactured Native American mysticism. We have red rocks and desert hues to arouse White’s cinematographer. And have you seen Amangiri, the surreal mega-resort near Lake Powell? It is White Lotus. Odds: 20-1
