Every week, we present a curated list of live music in a wide range of genres around the Valley. This week features a big-ticket rock fest and a crooner with of the most distinctive sobriquets in music history.  

 

February 19
Engelbert Humperdinck 

The unusually named singer was born Arnold George Dorsey. At the recommendation of his manager, the British singer, known for the hit “This Moment in Time” and his rendition of “Lesbian Seagull” for the Beavis and Butt-Head Do America soundtrack, adopted the name of the 19th-century German composer to stand out. Tommy James and the Shondells

Innings Festival 

A bevy of indie and mainstream artists will join an array of MLB legends on the south shore of Tempe Town Lake to celebrate all things baseball. Headliners for the event’s first weekend include Mumford & Sons, Twenty One Pilots, Blink-182, and Public Enemy. Check website for set times and ticket prices. Tempe Beach and Arts Park, 80 W. The Beach Boys 

Now dubbed America’s Band,” the California surf group is playing its hits live, including Surfin’ USA,” “Surfer Girl,” “Fun, Fun, Fun,” “I Get Around” and Kokomo.” 8 p.m. Check website for ticket prices. Animaniacs in Concert! 

The television was the babysitter for a certain generation of lonely latchkey kids. Luckily, there were programs like Animaniacs, with its wacky characters and hilarious yet educational ditties, to keep them glued to the set.
