Every week, we present a curated list of live music in a wide range of genres around the Valley. This week, we feature a special pop-up show from a currently-unhoused indie music venue.

July 29
The Fixx

Are we ourselves? Given that it has been 47 years since the London hitmakers first gigged, that’s a worthwhile question to ask. See frontman Cy Curnin belt out “Red Skies,” “One Thing Leads to Another” and, yes, “Our We Ourselves?” – among other New Wave standards from their 12-album oeuvre – on the band’s current U.S. tour, with the entire classic-era lineup intact. The Marquee Theatre, 730 N. Mill Ave., Tempe, 480-829-0607, livenation.com

July 30
The Party at Hello Lincoln

Every month, Trunk Space, which is searching for a permanent location, puts on a show at Hello Merch headquarters. July’s edition is a collaboration with local booker Slushy Presents, and the bill for this all-ages show is a who’s who of up-and-coming bands in the Phoenix music scene: Just Like June, Silt, Jouska, Lovre, Suzaku99 and Smilingatstrangers. 6 p.m. $10. Hello Lincoln, 850 W. Lincoln St., Phoenix, 850wlincoln.com

July 31
Death Cab for Cutie

It wasn’t that long ago when Ben Gibbard and Death Cab for Cutie were in Phoenix to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its breakout album Transatlanticism. Now it is looking toward the future, with a new label and the release of its 11th studio album, I Built You a Tower. 8 p.m. Check website for ticket prices. Arizona Financial Theatre, 400 W. Washington St., Phoenix, 602-514-2919, livenation.com

August 2
The Pretty Reckless

Taylor Momsen, once known for playing Cindy Lou Who in the live-action remake of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, found her true calling as the frontwoman of the rock band The Pretty Reckless. It is coming to the Valley in support of its latest album, Dear God. 7:30 p.m. Check website for ticket prices. The Van Buren, 401 W. Van Buren St., Phoenix, 480-659-1641, livenation.com

August 2
Of Montreal

If you’re familiar with the oeuvre of the indie band of Montreal, then you are keenly aware of how each song feels like a journal entry in frontman Kevin Barnes’ private diary, seemingly documenting every important moment and feeling of his life through a pop music lens. By the time Barnes delivers his music directly to fans on tour, the songs have become a colorful, avant-garde reflection of his id, or, to put it another way, they are heartbreak you can dance to. 7:30 p.m. $27 plus fees. Cresent Ballroom, 208 N. Second Ave., Phoenix, 602-716-2222, crescentballroom.com
