Sexual intimacy and sexual health are part of one’s self-care and well-being and should not be painful to experience or talk about. Nicole Afuape, MD, gynecologic surgeon and pelvic pain specialist, and George Kallingal, MD, urologic oncologist, lead the Sexual Health and Healing program at Dignity Health — Cancer Institute at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, providing comprehensive care and support for sexual health before, during, and after cancer treatment.
Program patients and their families are met with compassionate care in a comforting environment where they can express concerns about sex, erectile dysfunction, desire, and more. Drs. Afuape and Kallingal are committed to helping patients return to healthy sexual intimacy following cancer-related surgery, radiation, or treatment. Sexual dysfunction is common; healing can be, too.
