The Hike Book podcast recording on location at REI (PV location). Left to right: Jan Hancock, Mare Czinar and Sirena Rana.

On this all-new podcast series, The Hike Book author Mare Czinar (PHOENIX magazine Director of Production) interviews a cross section of hikers, movers-and-shakers, land managers and experts in trail development and maintenance. These stories will be compiled into our Volume 3 of The Hike Book, coming in 2022. This edition will focus on classic trails in the Metro Phoenix area, with solicited advice from our guests, as well as listeners of this podcast and readers of PHOENIX.

On this first episode, we talk to Sirena Rana, author of Best Day Hikes on the Arizona National Scenic Trail and founder of Trails Inspire, a consulting company that promotes the outdoors via writing, public speaking, photography and trail design and development.

Our second guest is Jan Hancock, Executive Director for the Maricopa Trail and Park Foundation.
