Whether you’re day drinking, on a date night, chugging with the fellas or stocking up for Thanksgiving dinner at the in-laws – this weekend is a solid time to hunt down new releases from craft breweries around the Valley. Here are eight new local pours available on tap or in cans. Cheers and enjoy responsibly!
Brewed in collaboration with the City of Tombstone Fire Department, the can art diverts away from Tombstone’s typical plain lettering style and features a historical photograph of the firefighters from the 19th century. The Plug Ugly name derives from the nasty style of firefighting back in the day (it’s worth a read after a Google search). We don’t envy that 1800s lifestyle, but we do lift a pint to cheers it. Available on draft and in cans at both Tombstone locations, and in distribution – we found a four-pack at Trevor’s Liquor in Scottsdale.
Shout out to our reigning Best of the Valley Readers’ Pick winner in the podcast category: Eric Walters of the Tap That AZ podcast. He’s collaborated with the brewers at Simple Machine for another batch of the hazy IPA that bears his podcast name. It released in cans on Tuesday. Get some before Walters snatches all of it up!
The Tap That AZ podcast has been busy collaborating across north Phoenix. Here is a big 10.1% ABV triple IPA collab coming in heavy on the hops and with flavors of melon and grapefruit. Released earlier this week, this big boy is ready for you to enjoy on draft in the taproom. It’s a good weekend to be in the far north part of the Valley.
Cheers to 80 years and a special collaboration brew with Luke Air Force Base in the West Valley. This Goodyear brewpub named the beer 1941 to celebrate Luke AFB’s 80th anniversary. If you’re a veteran or active–duty military, the first pint at Saddle Mountain is on them, according to their Instagram post.
Double your pleasure at the Gilbert or Phoenix location with the return of two favorites: Ro-Ro 2 DIPA and Estrella Pale Ale. Ro-Ro 2 is brewed in collaboration with The Theodore beer bar in Downtown Phoenix and comes in as an 8.8% ABV double IPA with notes of pink grapefruit, stone fruit and pine. Estrella Pale Ale is an enjoyable combo of bitterness and fruity flavors in a 6% ABV style of American Pale Ale. Both brews are available starting Thursday, on draft and in cans.
Happy 4 year anniversary to the Duren brothers and all the other great folks at Cider Corps in Mesa. A winter version of its popular Fruit Salad cider (usually a summer release) is brand new in cans and on tap. You can also look for a 22-ounce bombers of a Bourbon barrel-aged pumpkin pie cider release coming on Saturday. With Veteran’s Day happening, it’s a great week to pay Cider Corps a visit, thank them for their service and congratulate them on four years of brewing.
