Continuing a banner week in Valley live-music news, M3F – Arizona’s premier, home-grown indie music festival – released its 2022 lineup this morning. And if you like to “cut a rug,” as the old-timers say, you should be happy.
After going on hiatus in 2021, the nonprofit, two-day festival (March 4 and 5) returns with San Francisco-based deep house sensation Zhu and soul crooner Leon Bridges in headlining roles, with a down-bill lineup that includes Grammy-winning R&B dance king Kaytranada and British funk revivalists Jungle. Aussie electropop quintet Parcels and Prescott-based jam band Spafford will also play to fans at Margaret T. Hance Park in Downtown Phoenix, along with roughly two dozen other artists.
First staged in 2004, M3F (formerly known as McDowell Mountain Music Festival) is the brainchild of Valley jam-rock enthusiast John Largay, and is wholly produced by employees at his general contracting firm, Wespac Contstruction. Proceeds from the completely nonprofit event benefit Phoenix Children’s, Habitat for Humanity and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Single-day tickets start at $65 for the festival, with VIP tickets (including preferred seating and drink tickets) pegged at $145-$275. Weekend passes start at $100. Tickets are currently available for sale.
