Welcome to September, one of the best months on the calendar, in my opinion.

College football is back on our TVs and If you’re like me, you’ll want to stock the fridge with lots of local craft beer for the occasion.

You do not want to sleep on the new craft beer releases coming out this month here in Arizona.

Here is what’s on tap this week around the state.

Drink responsibly.

Papago Cherry Blossom from Huss Brewing

Orange you glad they made a cherry version? Inspired by longtime favorite Papago Orange Blossom, Huss is unleashing this new black cherry wheat just in time for Labor Day weekend. This is a wide release, so look for it in cans at your local grocery store or on draft at the Huss Brewing locations in Phoenix and Tempe.

8-Year Anniversary Releases at Arizona Wilderness Brewing

Eight is great for the worldrenowned Arizona Wilderness team, celebrating its anniversary with beer releases all weekend long. It kicks off Thursday, September 2 with Monsoon Chocolate barrel-aged stout, Dirty Hop Water: Operation Doomsday hazy double IPA and Crystal Eyes imperial honey IPA.

Pucker up for Friday’s releases, which include bottles of Camp Coolship wild ale and Citrus Sour gose brewed with locally grown oranges, grapefruits and lemons.

The always popular AZ Dreamsicle double milkshake IPA makes its triumphant return on Saturday, but you can pre-order online starting Thursday for picking up at the Gilbert location. Note: All these beers will also be available at the Downtown Phoenix location.

The 8-year anniversary celebration commences Monday, September 6 with the appropriately named 8th Anniversary Triple IPA – a 10% ABV palate pleaser brewed with eight different hops. Cheers to eight years of making great beers in the Arizona Wilderness!

Top Secret Battle Monkey from The Beer Research Institute

Not even Victoria can keep this one secret. B.R.I.’s seasonal 10% ABV double IPA hits the taproom on Friday, September 3, available on draft and in cans to take home.

Stoned Fruit at Goldwater Brewing Co.

Stone fruit beers are starting to grow in popularity (think SanTan Brewing’s Pebblehead IPA), especially in late summer. A stone fruit is classified as having thin skin and a stone or seed in the center (cherries and peaches, for example). Goldwater is now getting in on this new style of beer with a hazy IPA brewed with plums, apricots and mango  set to release on Friday.

Two New Beers at Simple Machine Brewing

Lucky Seven West Coast IPA released late last week, but we noticed a smoking cheap deal ($10.99 for a four-pack) at Craft Beer Hop Stop (Union Hills Drive and Seventh Avenue). This 7.77% ABV IPA was brewed to celebrate seven years in business for Allen Husayno, owner of the north Phoenix craft beer store. Cheers to many more!

Phoenix Rising FC fans, get your kicks at Simple Machine Brewing this weekend for a good cause. For The Kids Copper Ale is a collaborative brew with the Union 602 Phoenix Rising fan club, to benefit the Children’s Cancer Network.

Mango Wheat at Pedal Haus Brewery

Fans can kick off the new ASU football season with this special release at the Tempe brewery location. Pedal Haus is right down the street from Sun Devil Stadium and figures to be a popular place on gamedays, especially with easy drinkers like this one.

Digital Sea from 12 West Brewing

We’re still daydreaming about the beach as summer comes to an end, so this new hazy IPA should conjure up plenty of tropical thoughts. Available on draft and in cans for $18 per four-pack, Digital Sea hits the brewery on Saturday.

Mandatory Casual Fridays at Wren House Brewing

Break out the fun jeans for this new double IPA releasing on Thursday. That’s right, you don’t have to wait until Friday for Casual Fridays. Pick up a four-pack to split with your coworkers. Does anyone still work in an office?

Fluff Daddy from O.H.S.O Brewery

It doesn’t need to be all about the Benjamins – why can’t it be about the brews? Puff your way over to one of O.H.S.O.’s four Valley locations on Friday for the release of seasonal fave Fluff Daddy marshmallow fluff IPA, available on draft and in cans.

Headed out of town?

Pumpkin Springs Porter at Grand Canyon Brewery and Distillery

Porters and pumpkins are back! Grand Canyon Brewing celebrates the return of fall with its annual release, full of all the autumnal spices you’ve come to love. Available in cans and on tap at the locations in Flagstaff and Williams. Look for it soon in finer craft beer shops around the Valley.
