Looking for a local brew to sip at backyard cookouts or during outdoor adventures this summer? Williams-based Grand Canyon Brewing & Distillery has a refreshing recommendation – its newly released seasonal lager, Sacred Saguaro.

The medium-bodied beer is so smooth, you’ll want to pack a couple in your cooler for a campout or kayaking excursion or knock a few back at the next barbecue. With nutty notes, hints of vanilla and a crisp caramel finish, it has a unique flavor profile and at 6.2 percent ABV, it’s a mellow brew you’ll want to be sipping on all summer.

Sacred Saguaro is a Vienna-style lager made with Vienna and Munich malt and Saphir hops and is available in stores in 16-ounce four packs and on tap at local bars and restaurants. Of course, the best way to enjoy it is to head to high country and have a pint at the cozy brewery and tap room in historic downtown Williams.

The Sacred Saguaro recipe was developed nearly seven years ago “to capture the essence of a summer sunset in Arizona,” according to Alexander Phillips, Grand Canyon’s director of sales, marketing and national accounts. “The rich flavor and beautiful copper color really set this brew apart from other summer lagers.”

The can art depicts a cartoon cactus with mountains in the background and the brown, sage green and yellow accents evoke summer days spent in the desert. We’ll be keeping a few cans on hand to do just that.
