Every year at the end of January, Girl Scout cookie season arrives and gives the next generation of young girls a chance to test out their entrepreneurial skills.
This year, more than 6,000 Arizona Girl Scouts are participating in the Girl Scout Cookie Program. With fewer opportunities to set up booths and an ongoing emphasis on contactless pickup and delivery, the Arizona Cactus-Pine Council developed new and innovative ways for girls to safely sell cookies. Local Girl Scouts are setting up drive-through booths, using QR codes and selling cookies through the organization’s digital platform. And because this is 2021, you can even have cookies delivered directly to your door.
To help ensure the success of this year’s program and to support the council’s long-term goals, The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation provided it with a $665,000 grant – the equivalent of a dozen boxes of cookies from every single participating Girl Scout in the Arizona Cactus-Pine Council. At nearly 80,000 boxes, it is the single largest cookie purchase in Arizona and gives each girl the opportunity to donate their boxes to organizations and individuals in need.
