Grab your hat, bet on your horse and spice up your juleps, it’s the Kentucky Derby! In lieu of being in Louisville to see the race live, we’ve rounded up some of the best spots to celebrate right here in the Valley. So, grab your best hat and celebrate at one of these Valley locations.

2019 Kentucky Derby at Bourbon Steak at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess

Bourbon Steak Executive Chef Sara Garrant will be whipping up Southern favorites including Southern Style Deviled Eggs, Pickled Shrimp, Cornmeal fried oysters, Shrimp and Grits, Fried Chicken Biscuits, Smoked Potato Salad and more at this infamous lawn party. There will be multiple TVs inside and outside to watch the 145th running of the fastest two minutes in sports. Enjoy festive live music, food and drink, a photo booth, lawn games and more. Southern belles and gents, wear your fanciest hats and sharpest suits to compete for prizes in our men’s and women’s Derby hat and fashion contest. Tickets are required.

Southern Rail

Join Chef Beckett at Southern Rail for their Kentucky Derby celebration on Saturday, May 4 from 1-5 p.m. Sip on mint juleps while you cheer on your favorite horse and enjoy a special Derby Day menu in addition to their regular all-day menu items. Guests are encouraged to wear their best derby inspired attire. Prizes will be awarded for the best men’s and women’s derby hats, as well as best dressed overall. Reservations are recommended.

Ocean Prime

It’s off to the races at Ocean Prime – fascinators and bowler hats optional. In honor of the Kentucky Derby — one of the country’s most fashionably attended events that even has its own signature sip — Ocean Prime is offering freshly made Mint Julep cocktails all day Saturday, May 4. Bourbon selection for the cocktail is guests’ choice and price point varies. The party kicks off at 5 p.m. and reservations are recommended.

Padre Murphy’s

On Saturday, May 4, 2019, the Valley’s premier Irish pub and off-track betting destination, Padre Murphy’s in Glendale, will be hosting their annual “Run for the Roses” Derby Day celebration. Beginning with breakfast at 8:30 a.m. (served until 11:30 a.m.), the celebration will also include Derby Day drink specials (mint juleps, peach mimosas and Blue Moon drafts), off-track betting, a live telecast of the 145th Annual Kentucky Derby on 100+ TVs (post time is 3:46 p.m. MST) and a Derby Day hat contest at 2 p.m. For more information, visit
