Inspired by the 626 Night Market in Los Angeles and night markets in Taiwan and Thailand, the PHX Night Market will give attendees an opportunity to taste a variety of ethnic foods and experience live cultural entertainment, Ce says.
The duo hopes to attract 5,000 people to the inaugural two-day event, which will feature more than 40 food and retail vendors who will each create one specialty item for the festival. “People are going to see vendors they’ve never seen before because we actively went out to the West and East Valleys to (find) some of the hidden gems,” Ce says.
Some of the vendors and specialty items include: Tempura Takeover (lobster fries); Pop N’ Tea (Kuro milk tea – horchata milk tea made with charcoal); Milk Run Premium Ice Cream & Boba (fresh pressed sugar cane juice); Sosoba (fried mackerel and three-cheese crab mac balls); and Red Bull and Hiro Sake (specialty cocktail: “The Takeout”). Other featured vendors include Clever Koi, Snoh Ice Shavery, Pokitrition and Drunken Tiger. There will also be a Sapporo Beer Garden.
To go along with the festive food and drink, Ce and Louie have rounded up a diverse array of entertainment, from live graffiti art by Paint PHX to a break dancing battle featuring various local dance groups to a Cobra Arcade Alley. “We will also have a performance stage where we’re featuring local bands and local DJs,” Louie says.
Ce and Louie have been planning the event for more than a year, Ce says. “It’s been a journey.”
