On Wednesday, December 14, the Silent Reading Club will gather at 6 p.m. at the Grand Central Coffee Company for its regular event the second Wednesday of every month. This month’s event deviates from the silent tradition, as hosts Pete Petrisko and Stacey Champion will read aloud the children’s classic, “The Velveteen Rabbit.”

“We chose ‘The Velveteen Rabbit’ because it’s a timeless holiday tale about how loves makes things real, not knowing how timely that message would become after the recent Presidential election,” Petrisko says.

On December 26, the Silent Book Club will meet for “Introverts Happy Hour” at Changing Hands Bookstore in Phoenix. Happy hour will be extended until 7 p.m. at the store’s First Draft Book Bar. Participants are encouraged to bring a book (or buy one at 15 percent off) and read for an hour alongside fellow book lovers.

Admission to both events is free. Visit facebook.com/events/905502282884766/ and changinghands.com for more information.
