The story follows the exploits of caped breakfast pastry Captain Waffello and his sidekick, Sir Rup, as they attempt to thwart the evil mastermind Toasty the Terrible and his henchmen, the Toastettes, from rigging all the toasters in the world to always burn toast. Dennis was diagnosed with ADHD when he was 5, and he wrote the book with kids like him in mind, encouraging “brain and body breaks” throughout as well as interactive prompts to help young readers stay engaged and focused.
