Brown Ale/6.7% ABV/19 IBU
Technically available all year long, this much-admired brown ale – truly a classic of Valley brewing, with a 2017 Great American Beer Festival bronze in its bandolier – doesn’t really tempt our fancy until autumn kicks in. That’s because it’s brown, of course. Call us effete, but yes, we need light, straw-hued malting and scads of Idaho 7, or we just don’t feel human from May to September. Machine Gun Teddy is decidedly a different beast: robust malt, toasty caramel smoothness and just enough hops to make you remember it’s beer, and not a melted Frappuccino. Lock and load, Teddy.
