With summer vacation around the corner, keeping kids busy – without breaking the bank – is a primary concern for parents. The Act One Culture Pass allows for students, seniors and under-resourced families to visit many of Arizona’s arts and cultural treasures, from Desert Botanical Garden to Heard Museum, at no cost. “There are so many opportunities to take day trips and discover everything these cultural centers and museums have to offer, all for the cost of just a tank of gas,” says Anne Osborne, spokesperson for Act One, a Phoenix- and Tucson-based nonprofit devoted to arts accessibility. To take part, simply use your library card at one of dozens of participating Arizona libraries to “check out” the pass, which grants free admission for two people to a number of museums, programs and events, with 500,000 passes offered annually. Once you check out a pass, you have seven days to redeem the tickets. To find participating libraries and cultural institutions, visit act1az.org/culture-pass.
