Midge Ure
The Scottish-born singer-songwriter is a bit of a rock star Zelig, rubbing shoulders with everyone from the Bay City Rollers, who wrote songs for his ’70s pop band Silk, to turning down an invitation to join the Sex Pistols. New wave fans know him best as a member of Ultravox and Visage, and he also partnered with Bob Geldof to write the holiday single “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” He’ll perform his decades of hits and rarities when he arrives in Phoenix. 7 p.m., $44.50-$49.50, Musical Instrument Museum, 4725 E. Mayo Blvd., Phoenix, 480-478-6000, mim.org

Morris Day and the Time
Jesse Johnson and Jerome Benton have since left The Time, which was started in the early ’80s by the legendary Prince and was made famous by its appearance in the film Purple Rain. However, Morris Day and his current lineup can still bring the funk, so head down to Chandler and get some of that “Jungle Love.” 8 p.m., $39-$99, Showroom at Gila River Resorts & Casinos – Wild Horse Pass, 5040 Wild Horse Pass Blvd., Chandler, 800-946-4452, playatgila.com
