L’Auberge de Sedona
Does Sedona count as a staycay? It certainly fits our (admittedly generous) definition. Red rock country is not terribly far from the Valley (90 minutes by car in most circumstances) and palpably thins out tourist-wise come summer. Our favorite blue-chip Sedona getaway remains L’Auberge, with its shaded, creekside mien, spacious guest cottages and glorious outdoor showers, where you can clean up after a vigorous hike under a swaying, leafy canopy of cottonwood. It also boasts Sedona’s most transportive restaurant, Cress on Oak Creek, where newly acquired talent Ryan Swanson now runs the storied kitchen.
