Downtown Gilbert staple O.H.S.O Brewery recently announced it will be opening a bowling alley next to its brewery, restaurant and park next year.
This new project will be totally separate from the other businesses but accessible by The Park, a dog- and family-friendly community space. It will feature an American and Asian tapas-style menu and a distinct ambiance. O.H.S.O’s owner Jon Lane says he and his team decided to add a bowling alley to provide an indoor interactive experience for people of all ages.
“We have concerts, we have some games outside, we also wanted to add tapas and some fun stuff to do inside,” Lane says. “We’re geared to groups, so we thought this would be a good fit.”
Despite being a brewery, being comfortable for both kids and parents has always been a priority for Lane.
“We try to be inclusive of families and we want people later in the evening to have fun,” Lane says. “We’re not trying to be any sort of hardcore bar, we want to be a comfortable place for someone in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, who has kids or doesn’t have kids.”
The bowling alley will feature six to eight lanes and have a variety of arcade activities like pinball and video games, but Lane says they’re not trying to be like Dave & Busters. The bowling alley will be a little bit “prettier and fancier” than O.H.S.O, according to Lane, and he says they’re hoping to attract Sunday brunch groups and other crowds in addition to their usual patrons.
Guests will be able to stroll between venues with drinks in hand and experience the different tastes and activities scattered throughout O.H.S.O’s lively compound in Downtown Gilbert later next year.
