Following a few years of partnerships with food trucks and other dining concepts, the Bitter & Twisted team is returning to the kitchen for the first time since 2020. The restaurant’s most recent partner, Breadfruit, a tropical cuisine concept offering an array of Jamaican dishes was with the cocktail bar for a year. Dwayne Allen, the owner of Breadfruit will be focusing on his beverage business and Bitter & Twisted owner Ross Simon says the timing was right for the kitchen to reopen and bring back its “greatest hits.”
Among these fan favorites from the cocktail bar’s menu debut in 2015 is the renowned and highly requested Dragon Dumpling Burger as well as the Korean nachos, green chili macaroni and cheese, and fish and chips. Simon says the bar has always taken inspiration from around the globe for its food and beverages.
“The menu is not restricted by being in the box of a certain food group,” Simon says. “So being globally inspired, whether that be Korea or China or the UK or Mexico, I think our entire concept from the bar has been being global. Globally inspired drinks and ingredients from day one.”
Simon’s main goal for this Bitter & Twisted kitchen revival is to serve elevated bar food that pairs well with the cocktails and a shareable bar environment. He also says that this change is about more than just the food.
“At the end of the day, bars are all about bringing people together and giving a great experience where they can forget their day-to-days,” Simon says. “Having a bar where they can do that any night of the week in the heart of Downtown, that’s our bread and butter and what we do.”
