Every week, we present a curated list of live music in a wide range of genres all around the Valley, and this week’s column features throwback acts.

August 1
Killer Mike and the Midnight Revival
The Atlanta rapper, who makes up one-half of Run the Jewels, is heading out on the road with a choir for his first major solo tour to promote his memoir-like record, Michael. 8 p.m., $30, The Van Buren, 401 W. Van Buren St., Phoenix, 480-659-1641, livenation.com

Rod Stewart
Rescheduled from June 24, 2022. Rod the Mod has held a Vegas residency for more than a decade now, so the “Forever Young” singer must be eager to leave the comfort of Caesars Palace and hit the road to perform “You Wear It Well,” “Hot Legs,” and “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?” 7:30 p.m., $44.50-$495, Footprint Center, 201 E. Jefferson St., Phoenix, 602-379-7800, footprintcenter.com

August 4
Gipsy Kings
Many musicians came together to pay tribute to the legendary Tina Turner. Yet it’s safe to say no one saw the collaboration between British pop stars Coldplay and the flamenco duo Gipsy Kings coming. The two bands performed “Proud Mary” during the “Yellow” band’s concert in Barcelona, then performed Gipsy Kings’ hit “Bamboléo.” 8 p.m., $67.50-$117.50, Showroom at Wild Horse Pass, 5040 Wild Horse Pass Blvd., Chandler, 800-946-4452, playatgila.com

August 5
The Tubes
Known for their absurd music videos and outrageous stage shows, The Tubes found mainstream success with the ’80s hit “She’s A Beauty.” The group has roots in Phoenix and is returning to the Valley less than a year after the death of bassist Rick Anderson. 8 p.m., $50-$105, Talking Stick Resort, 9800 E. Talking Stick Way, Scottsdale, 877-724-4687, talkingstickresort.com

August 6-7
The English Beat
The influential ska band, known for the hits “I Confess,” “Save It for Later,” and “Mirror in the Bathroom,” are returning to the Valley to make the Musical Instrument Museum shake. 7 p.m., $44.50-$49.50, Musical Instrument Museum, 4725 E. Mayo Blvd., Phoenix, 480-478-6000, mim.org
