Crystals and Cocktails: Quartz, a new cocktail lounge, is opening in Downtown Phoenix on Thursday, April 20. Valley dwellers can stimulate their senses and quench their thirst with stunning visuals and unique cocktails. The bar’s menu and theme are inspired by the 12 birthstones of each calendar year. Cocktails are designed around each stone’s unique characteristics, driving the flavor profiles and look. Some of the cocktails include the Anahata Emerald with spinach-infused Irish whiskey, lotus and emerald green, minty herbal spirit and the Amethyst Kaleidoscope – a purple cocktail made with sotol (a lightly smokey spirit from Northern Mexico), aloe grappa, tepache soda and a sparkling desert mariposa tea. Guests can also reserve a high-end and exclusive cocktail experience within a crystal cave. Inside The Cave at Quartz, every cocktail is desert-themed, and the flavors tell a story of different deserts around the world.
Urban Wine Walk: Get your steps and sips in at Downtown Phoenix Inc.’s annual Urban Wine Walk this Saturday, April 22. A kickoff event with live music and merchandise will take place at 12:30 p.m. at Downtown Phoenix Inc.’s office. The walk begins at 1 p.m. and ends at 5 p.m. It’s self-guided, so guests can start whenever and wherever they please. Participants include Garden Bar PHX, Wren & Wolf, GenuWine Arizona, Hidden Track Bottle Shop, Eden Rooftop Bar at the Kimpton Hotel Palomar Phoenix and more. Each location will offer a $5 wine sample and a complimentary snack, no registration required. Make sure to bring cash, sunscreen and comfortable walking shoes.
Cinco De Dos XX: Local Mexican favorite Macayo’s is celebrating Cinco De Mayo early with its Macayo’s Beer for a Year Sweepstakes. Now through Friday, May 5, guests can enter online to win a custom Macayo’s and Dos Equis cooler and twelve 24-packs of the Mexican lager. The winner will be chosen and notified on or around May 6. Guests must be 21 or older to enter.
Festeggiamo!: The Sicilian Butcher, a local Italian restaurant, is honored as a 2023 “Breakout Brand” by Nation’s Restaurant News. It’s the only Italian and Arizona-based restaurant included in the esteemed list. The emerging brand broke breaks free from the typical Italian spot with a chef-driven menu and innovative customer experiences like meatball and pasta customization. The bakery next door, The Sicilian Baker, also has a unique cannoli bar concept conceptualized by celebrity chef Joey Maggiore as well as Christina Maggiore and Flora Tersigni. The Sicilian Butcher and The Sicilian Baker have three locations in the Valley with plans to open nearly 20 more locations in Arizona and beyond.
New Restaurants on the Block:
Sugo Bistro: The new Italian concept created by Arizona chef Robert Conneway will hold its grand opening on Saturday, April 29. Sugo means “sauce” in Italian and the menu will include a variety of scratch dishes like wood-fired pizzas, handmade pasta and fresh bruschetta boards. Take a tour of the best Italian flavors without leaving your neighborhood with handmade dishes, Italian cocktails and exquisite wines. Sugo Bistro is located on the ground floor retail space in SOHO Scottsdale. The restaurant will be open daily for lunch and dinner 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. It will also offer takeout, delivery and catering.
Cooper’s Hawk Winery and Restaurant: The Chicago-based restaurant and winery will open its third Arizona location in Gilbert on Monday, May 8. It offers a vast variety of award-winning red, white and dessert wines. Cooper’s Hawk develops each dish to complement ts wine and serves a robust fusion menu that changes to incorporate seasonal ingredients. Current seasonal chef recommendations include mushroom flatbread and white and dark chocolate cheesecake. It also provides vegetarian, gluten-free and child-friendly options. The restaurant hosts happy hour every Monday through Friday from 2-5 p.m. In addition to its existing locations in North Scottsdale, Chandler and the new Gilbert location, it’s opening another in Surprise very soon.

Barrio Brewing Co.: Get twisted on National Pretzel Day, Friday, April 26 with the Mesa restaurant’s Bavarian Beer Sponges.
