Several local breweries have jumped on the Phoenix Suns bandwagon by creating new beers in the spirit of this magical postseason run to the NBA Finals. Add some hops to your hoops with these three new slam dunk craft creations.
Fill up a pint while Devin Booker fills up the points with PHX Beer Co.’s nod to iconic Phoenix Suns play-by-play announcer Al McCoy (PHOENIX magazine Readers’ Choice for Best of the Valley 2021). This limited–edition IPA releases Friday, July 9 and is available on draft at the Washington Street taproom or in four-pack cans. The Scottsdale restaurant location will have the WCIPA on draft only. I might enjoy three and be screaming Shazaaam! myself.
The “Suns in Four” mantra has become the calling card for casual and die-hard Suns fans alike ever since Nick McKellar fought back against two Denver Nuggets fans who tried to fight him during a second–round playoff game. McKellar, reportedly an avid home brewer, recently spent time with the Goldwater brew team and they came up with this 5.75 ABV Cold IPA. Suds in Four is available Thursday, July 8 after 3 p.m. at the Scottsdale and Mesa locations in four-packs, single cans and on draft. Previous releases include Game Day Beer Golden Ale in mid-June and Crisp Paul Pilsner last week. Crisp Paul quantities were low when we sought it out. Luckily, we got a can because it is approved for #ChuggingWithTheFellas.
Wren House may have been the first local brewery to #RallyTheValley and jump on the Suns-themed beer trend with its Rally Beer American lager. It’s releasing another batch today – which may be the last until next season – and it’s limited to one four-pack per person.
