Anyone who’s ever cringed at the sound of nails on a chalkboard knows that sound can induce physical sensations – thankfully, they don’t have to be negative feelings. Practitioners of sound healing believe soundwaves can restore balance to one’s body and mind, and they’ve got the gongs to demonstrate.

Seekers of such aural bliss could take some notes from the free virtual gong baths conducted by local wellness business Nicole Anne Yoga.  All they need is an internet connection and a quiet, comfortable place to lie back and passively meditate while “bathing” in the vibrations of sound (a Bluetooth speaker is recommended for maximum good vibrations). Sessions take place live every Sunday from 10 to 11 a.m. on the Nicole Anne Yoga Facebook page.

The gongs are augmented by other instruments that make harmonious sounds during “Virtual Sound Healing Journeys” from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. every Friday, also on Facebook Live. Participants are encouraged to bring things to the sessions that help them relax, including pillows, blankets and eye coverings.

Nicole Anne Yoga has offered virtual yoga and sound healing sessions since spring 2020. Both recurring sound healing events are free, but donations to Nicole Anne Yoga are welcome via Venmo at @Nicole-Fonovich.
