Let the pizza wars begin!

A friendly competition is underway this week at Pedal Haus Brewery in Tempe, where owner Julian Wright and head brewer Doc Osborne each have a delicious new pizza available on the menu. Whoever sells the most pizzas in the next week will have $500 and 50 percent of the National Pizza Day sales (February 9) donated to a charity of his choice.

Julian’s charity is Valley Dogs. His pizza consists of slow roasted pulled pork, fresh mozzarella, caramelized onions, peppadew peppers and fresh herbs. This pairs perfectly with the new Dopplebock released on draft today.

Doc’s charity is AZK9 Rescue. His pizza features Boars Head pepperoni, Calabrian chilis, jalapenos and honey drizzle. There’s a bit of spice to this one, which is perfectly fine as long as you have a cold IPA or pilsner in front of you.

We tried both and had a tough time deciding which was our favorite.

What’s on tap?

Look for the new Rebuild The Guild IPA release on February 9. This collaborative IPA was brewed across the state of Arizona to benefit the Arizona Craft Brewers Guild. 50% of the proceeds will be donated to the guild.
