Salute a Legendary Singer
Angela Ingersoll celebrates an American icon in the uplifting Get Happy: Angela Ingersoll Sings Judy Garland, through Feb. 7. Presented on an outdoor stage located just one block north of Phoenix Theatre, the production includes such Garland favorites as “Over the Rainbow,” “The Trolley Song” and “The Man That Got Away.” The performance space accommodates approximately 250 guests, seated in pairs and distanced 6 feet in all directions. Tune in to Jimmy Eat World in Concert
Tired of not performing for its fans for nearly a year, Mesa-based rock band Jimmy Eat World set up at The Icehouse to record Phoenix Sessions, a series of streamed shows focusing on several of the group’s albums each played in its entirety. Catch their timeless yet ever-refreshing sound Jan. 29 as they perform Futures in full. The concert/film premieres at 3 p.m. and is available to stream for 72 hours after. Walk Like an Art Lover for Unity
The 2021 Regional Unity Walk has evolved from an in-person gathering of thousands who walk together for diversity to the Regional Unity Artwalk: A Visual Journey of Diversity, Culture and Equity. The celebration continues through Jan. 31, with participants invited to explore a variety of art pieces, murals, photos, performances and sculptures throughout the Valley. It’s the ultimate makeover story where a beautiful girl, a wicked stepfamily, a fairy godmother, a handsome prince and transparent footwear add up to true love, lots of laughs and happily ever after. See Living Sculptures at Desert Botanical Garden
Using florals and plant materials as the medium and desert elements as the inspiration, Natasha Lisitsa and Daniel Schultz of Waterlily Pond Studio have created large-scale living sculptures in Wind, Water and Earth. The first of the three-part exhibit is Wind, which is on display through Feb. 19. Inspired by the tumultuous wind and dust storms that sweep across the desert landscape, the piece is composed of copper, cholla skeletons, tree branches, tumbleweeds and more.
