Looking for a new place to wine and dine? Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant just opened in North Scottsdale and it’s the perfect place for date nights, family dinners and catching up with friends. Upon entry, you immediately find yourself in a tasting room with more than 40 varietals. And if vino isn’t your vibe, there are amazing cocktails and beer and even non-alcoholic options for the teetotalers in your tribe.

Location: The Promenade in Scottsdale
Opened: December 2020
The Scene: Upscale with a homey, inviting atmosphere
Highlights: Mexican Drunken Shrimp ($14.99); Thai Lettuce Wraps ($15.99); The Leonard Burger ($13.99); Thai Shrimp & Scallops ($17.99); Lobster Crusted Filet Medallions ($30.99)

All the food is made from scratch and with passion. From the moment its prepped to the time it hits the table, each dish is treated like a work of art. The menu includes a wine pairing for each dish, but you can also ask your server for recommendations. The waitstaff is trained to provide suggestions and make each guest feel at ease. “We want them to feel comfortable with what they are introducing to a guest. They drive it,” general manager Jeremy Woodruff says. “The best servers you’ll ever see in life are the ones that want to know things. They want to be the expert on that subject matter.”

This also goes for the wine. If you want to explore new wines, this is the place to spread your wings. Woodruff is eager to see the community experience Cooper’s Hawk. “I am excited to see how people’s faces light up, and they get really excited to what we bring to the table,” he says. “It’s not just wine and food, it’s literally about the guest experience and having something for everyone.”

They really do a fascinating job by helping people find what they like, so in the future they know what to order again or what to try next time. Woodruff’s favorite dish is the Churrasco Grilled Steak, which features chimichurri skirt steak, cilantro-lime aioli and oven-roasted veggies. Pair it with petite serah, he says.

Insider tip: Be on the lookout for their new location coming later 2021 in Chandler.
