Reconnect with Art in Old Town Scottsdale
Innovative art displays that combine water, art and light are in the spotlight Nov. 6-15 at Canal Convergence. Focusing on the theme, Reconnect, the experience aims to find common ground and shared humanity through public art, addressing themes of communication, collaboration and community engagement. The large-scale art installments can be found along the Arizona Canal, as well as multiple locations in nearby Old Town Scottsdale, with many of the pieces viewable from cars or bicycles. Livestreamed and drive-in performances are included, plus in-person events at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, where safety protocols will be enforced. Catch a Comedy on the Couch
Grab some popcorn and enjoy award-winning cinema from the comfort of home as the Scottsdale Film Festival celebrates its 20th anniversary Nov. 6-10. Get Revved Up for NASCAR
Catch the action around the oval track at a drive-in viewing experience for the NASCAR Cup Series championship race Nov. 8. The watch party is free to attend, but guests must register in advance as space is limited. Virtual appearances by NASCAR Cup Series drivers and a gift pack for each car are included, along with food trucks and games. Kids of all ages can explore everything from construction trucks and tractor trailers to emergency response vehicles, and meet the people who build, protect and serve the Valley as The Junior League of Phoenix hosts its Drive-Thru Touch-A-Truck Nov. 7. A “horn-free hour” is planned from 9 to 10 a.m. for children with special needs and sensitive ears, allowing guests to enjoy the event without horn honking and disruptive noises. 9 a.m.-3 p.m. $25 per carload; tickets must be purchased in advance. Hum along to Hot-Rod Hits
Fountain Hills Theater presents 4 on the Floor, which tells the story of four auto mechanics in 1969 who want to become a rock ’n’ roll band, but all they know is cars, chrome and chicks. Featuring such hits as “409,” “Hot Rod Lincoln” and “Little Old Lady from Pasadena,” the high-energy tribute musical is presented on an outdoor stage with patrons encouraged to bring chairs if they would like to sit outside of their vehicles.
