Last May, we chronicled about a handful of Valley animal rescues who had been severely affected due to the influx of displaced animals and loss of resources due to the impact COVID-19. This month, we received a twinkle of good news. La Gattara Cat Lounge and Boutique, which lost its space in April, has found a new home and will reopen in the heart of Downtown Phoenix this weekend. To celebrate, the rescue is hosting a socially distanced Halloween-themed fundraiser to care for the cats currently in their care and start the buildout of their new location. Here are the details:

  • There will be a raffle! Wear your best witchy or kitty costume or bring an item from the La Gattara Amazon wishlist for an extra raffle ticket. Raffle prizes include artwork, wine and gift certificates.
  • Meet La Gattara “spokeskitties” Bunny and the OG himself, Mr. Charlie Chaplin the Cat. Photos are encouraged!
  • When: Sunday, Oct. 25, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Where: La Gattara Cat Lounge and Boutique, 828 N. 2nd St., Phoenix (in the former Velo building)
  • Can’t make the event but still want to help? All donations made at this PayPal link will go to the development of the new, bigger and more sustainable La Gattara facility.
