Bar Flies – the monthly live reading series curated by PHOENIX columnist Amy Silverman and Valley advertising professional Katie Bravo – is typically held at Valley Bar in downtown Phoenix. COVID-19 chucked a wrench right through the rest of their fifth season, so the duo decided to create a virtual Bar Flies show with illustrated stories. They’re all still true, and as always there’s a theme. This month’s is HOME. For more information about Bar Flies – both live and virtual – visit barflies.org

The first illustrated Bar Flies offering is titled “If Mr. Darcy Was A City,” by Cynthia Clark Harvey, a writer and comics artist. Her current work-in-progress is a graphic memoir, Figuring Us Out. Cynthia lives in North Phoenix with her husband and a very old Italian Greyhound. All three enjoy their walks around Lookout Mountain.

For more than 50 years, PHOENIX magazine's experienced writers, editors, and designers have captured all sides of the Valley with award-winning and insightful writing, and groundbreaking report and design. Our expository features, narratives, profiles, and investigative features keep our 385,000 readers in touch with the Valley's latest trends, events, personalities and places.
