Coronavirus Closings and Cancellations in the Valley

Fear surrounding the spread of coronavirus has caused cancellations and closings across the Valley. Here is a list of events that have been postponed or cancelled and institutions that have temporarily closed due to growing concerns about the COVID-19 outbreak.

Arts & Culture

50th Annual Scottsdale Arts Festival – cancelled

Nirvana Food & Wine Festival – postponed until fall 2020

Italian Festival of Arizona – postponed until October 17 and 18, 2020

Phoenix Kidney Walk – postponed until fall 2020

Fountain Hills Irish Fountain Fest – cancelled

Disney on Ice – cancelled

JoJo Siwa – postponed until June 10

Eco PHX Expo – postponed indefinitely

Zac Brown Band – cancelled

Rage Against the Machine – cancelled

Bird City Comedy Festival – postponed indefinitely

Pearl Jam – cancelled

Arizona Aloha Festival – cancelled

Culture Pop Block Party – cancelled

Celine Dion – postponed indefinitely

Trixie Mattell – postponed indefinitely

Flogging Molly – postponed indefinitely

Palo Bloom Festival – cancelled

Cowtown’s 19th Annual Phoenix Am – cancelled

The Format – postponed until July 25 to 27

Phoenix Lights Festival – postponed indefinitely

Great Wolf Lodge – closed from March 15 to April 2

Good Life Festival – postponed until March 2021

Arizona Game Fair – postponed until later this year

Phoenix Art Museum – closed until April 6

Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts events – postponed indefinitely

Rick Bronson’s House of Comedy – closed until the end of March

Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center events – cancelled

Cullum Homes Boots and Brunch – cancelled

Taco Fest – postponed indefinitely

Arezzona – postponed until July 11

Phoenix Lights – postponed until October 2 and 3

Louis the Child – postponed until October 16

The Monkees – postponed until July 21

FuelFest – postponed until September 19

TESLA – postponed until September 23

Sporting Events

Black Hockey History Tour – cancelled

Luke Days 2020 Airshow – cancelled

Spring Training – cancelled

NBA regular season – suspended indefinitely

NHL regular season – suspended indefinitely

MLB regular season – suspended for at least two weeks effective March 12

Phoenix Rising games – suspended for 30 days effective March 12

Volvik Founders Cup – cancelled

Arizona Tennis Classic – postponed until 2021

Schools

Tempe Elementary School District No. 3 – closed indefinitely

Kyrene School District – closed until March 20

Alhambra Elementary School District – closed indefinitely

Cartwright School District – closed indefinitely

Osborn School District – closed indefinitely

Pima Unified School District – closed indefinitely

Arizona State University – in-person classes cancelled for two weeks effective March 16

Grand Canyon University – in-person classes cancelled effective March 23

Scottsdale Artists’ School – closed until April 19

Restaurants 

Short Leash Hot Dogs & Rollover Donuts – closed until April 1

True Food Kitchen – closed until March 27

Organ Stop Pizza – closed until April 3

Other Institutions

Gila River Hotels & Casinos – closed for two weeks starting March 18

Phoenix Zoo – closed indefinitely starting March 18

To help contain the spread of the virus, the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention recommends the following:

-Regularly wash your hands with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

-Don’t make contact with individuals who are visibly sick.

-Refrain from touching your face.

-Stay home if you feel sick.

-Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue and immediately throw it away after using.

-Disinfect objects that are frequently touched.
