To paraphrase Shakespeare, if the songs of the fathers are to be laid upon the children, at least they’re good tunes when it comes to the kids of two founding members of The Allman Brothers Band. Devon Allman (son of guitarist and singer Gregg Allman) and Duane Betts (son of guitarist and singer Dickey Betts) formed The Allman Betts Band and will bring their jam band genes, Allman Brothers covers and original Southern-fried rock songs to the Musical Instrument Museum on March 6 for two sold-out shows. If you didn’t nab tickets to one of those concerts, fret not – there are other legacy acts with roots right here in the Valley worth checking out.

CO-OP
Alice Cooper’s son, Dash Cooper, heads up this hard rock quartet with his gritty vocals over head-banging power chords. CO-OP’s self-titled debut album was released in 2018 on Megadeth bassist and co-founder Dave Ellefson’s EMP Label Group, and Dash’s dad and Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry made guest appearances on songs. co-op.band

Elmo Kirkwood
The son of Meat Puppets guitarist/vocalist Curt Kirkwood spent years in the local scene building his own reputation for unusual music with bands like Kirkwood Dellinger and Flamingo before joining his father and his uncle, Cris Kirkwood, in the Meat Puppets as a guitarist. themeatpuppets.com

Jeordie
Singer-songwriter Jeordie’s mom is folk singer Melanie, best known for the early 1970s hit “Brand New Key.” Jeordie’s released four albums featuring everything from edgy blues rock with the slightest hint of country twang to catchy pop harmonies, the latest being Good Luck Sun in 2018. jeordie.com
