Fusion fare is all the rage right now and OBON Sushi + Ramen is at the forefront of the tasty trend.

The “polished casual” restaurant is one of the first businesses to open at The Grove, an upscale shopping and dining destination in Scottsdale’s McCormick Ranch neighborhood. The Tucson-based chain’s third location – and it’s second in Scottsdale – opened on June 27. The inventive eatery serves up innovative interpretations of traditional Japanese eats with a Korean twist.

Helmed by Chef Paulo Im, OBON’s menu boasts creative cuisine like chicken-fried cauliflower with creamy shiso wasabi sauce, Korean animal fries and a mushroom medley drenched in sake butter and garlic. Guests can also choose from seven ramen options, four different types of steamed buns and a wide selection of sushi.

OBON, which is the brainchild of Fukushū Restaurant Concepts, also has a comprehensive selection of inspired craft cocktails and a beer list that spotlights local drafts.

The 3,200-square-foot space is equipped with an expansive bar, open kitchen and a patio overlooking The Grove’s luxurious setting. Murals by local artists adorn the inside.

“We chose to open our second Scottsdale location in McCormick Ranch, not only because it’s one of the most coveted areas in the city, but because it has the charm and the sense of community that we embody at OBON,” says Brandon Katz, founder of Fukushū Restaurant Concepts. “We are excited to offer the neighborhood a conveniently located spot at The Grove — a place where our guests can share a meal with friends and family, sit down for a lunch meeting over sake and sushi, or simply grab a late-night craft cocktail.”

To celebrate the opening, OBON will offer all-day happy hour for the entire month of July. In addition to discounted drinks, happy hour deals include $10 ramen and a rotating signature roll for $9.
