It’s the weekend, which means one of two things: You’re either ready to go out, grab some drinks and socialize with your many, many friends, or you’re like me and you just can’t wait to order a pizza for one and lose yourself in a YouTube binge.
But, sometimes, I find myself in the mood to actually venture outside the confines of my bedroom. However, as a self-described introvert, I still have my rules: No excessive crowding, must be able to hear oneself talk and must have reasonably-priced, good drinks.
I’ve found the top three introvert-approved bars in downtown Phoenix that are sure to prevent any FORGO (Fear of Regretting Going Out) and ranked them according to the rules above with five being the best possible score.
1.Bitter & Twisted
The ranks highly on the introvert scale mostly because you usually have to make a reservation or put your name on a list to get in. Plus, their book-sized menu of craft cocktails makes it worth the excursion.
No crowding: 5
Hear-ability: 4
Drink price-to-taste ratio: 5
2.Cornish Pasty Co.
I discovered Cornish Pasty Co. as an ASU student at the Tempe location (didn’t we all) and was so pumped about their new downtown location. If you’re in the mood for a beer, it doesn’t disappoint. You might have to search a bit for a table, but it’s usually accessible if you’re in a small group.
No crowding: 4
Hear-ability: 4
Drink price-to-taste ratio: 4

3.The Churchill
I’m a huge fan of anywhere you can eat pizza, drink a variety of alcoholic beverages, sit down and feel like a part of the community. The outdoor space gives plenty of breathing room and it feels like the polar opposite of a crazy club.
No crowding: 4
Hear-ability: 4.5
Drink price-to-taste ratio: 3.5
