Valley celebs hit the canvases for this charitable art event, which benefits Phoenix nonprofit Gabriel’s Angels, an organization that provides pet therapy for Arizona’s abused and at-risk children. Each guest’s painting will be auctioned off during the event, and members of the public can vote for their favorite works for $10 per vote, with the top three artists who raise the most contributions netting a People’s Choice Award. Confirmed guest artists include Kyle Unfug (JohnJay and Rich Morning Show on 104.7 KISS FM), Chef Travis Garner (The Capital Grille), Danielle Lerner (ABC15 morning anchor), Britany Simon (HGTV), Brandon Lee (Good Evening Arizona anchor on 3TV), and J.E. #3: Greater Phoenix Jewish Film Festival at Harkins Theatres
The Greater Phoenix Jewish Film Festival continues through February 28 (visit gpjff.org for full schedule), but three screenings this week are must-makes: “Once in a Lifetime,” about a history teacher at a high school in France who enters her multicultural (and resistant) class in a national competition on the theme of child victims of the Holocaust (7 p.m. Feb. 16 at Harkins Shea 14; 3 p.m. Feb. 21 at Harkins Arrowhead Fountains 18); “Rock in the Red Zone,” which captures life on the edge of Israel’s Negev Desert, where the children of refugees work factories by day and create rock music in underground bomb shelters at night (7 p.m. Feb. 17 at Harkins Shea 14); and “In Silence,” a docudrama depicting the lives of five Jewish artists whose careers and lives were cut tragically short by the Holocaust (7 p.m. Feb. 18 at Harkins Shea 14). #4: Cirque de la Symphonie at Mesa Arts Center, Feb. 19-20

#5: BalletBoyz at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, Feb. 19
This U.K.-based, all-male ballet troupe was founded by former Royal Ballet dancers Michael Nunn, OBE and William Trevitt, and performs original commissioned works, including “The Murmuring” by choreographer Alexander Whitley, and “Mesmerics” by acclaimed choregrapher Christopher Wheeldon. Expect feats of strength and muscular movement from this innovative ten-man troupe. $39-$69, 8 p.m. February 19 in the Virginia G.
