While the ASU run often swerved into scandalous territory, the Undy Run/Walk aims to be a wholesome conversation-starter for families to participate in on November 21, with silly boxers and underwear worn over clothing in lieu of ASU’s lingerie- and briefs-clad runners.

“The creative boxers and witty team names bring a light-heartedness to the Undy Run/Walk, but it’s a serious business,” Colon Cancer Alliance special events director Adina Frazier said in a press release for the event. “Through this event, we’re able to have an even bigger impact on the Phoenix community and get one step closer to accomplishing our mission. What’s better than that?”

Their mission includes opening the dialogue and raising awareness about colon cancer, as well as fundraising to support prevention, research and patient support initiatives. It’s a disease that hits home for far too many Arizonans, with 2,560 diagnoses and 990 deaths in the last year. It’s a staggering statistic for one of the most preventable cancers, and the Colon Cancer Alliance hopes to change it.

In addition to the run/walk, the event will include remembrances of loved ones who lost their battle with colon cancer, opportunities to encourage those still fighting, celebrations of those who have made it through treatment and into remission, and even a huge inflatable colon for some educational levity.
