SEE IT: Possibly the only thing bigger than the merchandise selection at local grocery store chain Bashas’ is the Western art collection of Eddie Basha. Beginning in 1972, the late grocer patriarch amassed more than 3,000 pieces, including a nimiety of works by such cowboy artists as Joe Beeler, Jim Reynolds, John Clymer and Bill Owen (“Checkmate,” by Herb Mignery, is shown in the photo on the left). Catch a cornucopia from Basha’s collection at the Zelma Basha Salmeri Gallery of Western American and American Indian Art, 22402 S. Basha Rd., Chandler. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Visit bashas.com/OurCommunity/BashasArtGallery.aspx for more information, or call 480-895-9350.
