Dear PHOENIX reader,

As your favorite (we hope!) monthly publication, we’re purpose-built for deep, thorough, meditative dives into local dining, travel, news and business. We take our time to refine and polish every issue. It’s the city magazine way.

Well, if one thing has exposed the shortcomings of that model, it’s the coronavirus – a shared global catastrophe that has transformed life as we know it into a flash-flood of ever-changing news and public policy. It’s fluidity personified.

All the same, we at PHOENIX remain devoted to our Valley community and are determined to support not only our readers, but the chefs, photographers, artists, curators, designers and other gig-economy maestros who help form the core of our coverage. They’re the reason we’re a fun magazine to read. And as daily life necessarily contracts to battle the challenge facing us, we feel their hardship acutely. After all, we’re a small local company, too, producing both PHOENIX and our sister publication, Phoenix Home & Garden, out of our office in Scottsdale.

So we’re changing our model a bit, and adapting to cover more breaking news in the coming days. Please come back to the phoenixmag.com home page regularly for stories and blog updates, focused on positive, innovative things our local businesses and culture mavens are doing to stay engaged and solvent during this shared hardship, along with ways you, the reader, can enjoy the Valley responsibly and mindfully.

Because this, too, shall pass. And we’ll need somewhere to raise a glass when it does.
