Oregano’s Pizza Bistro and My Sister’s Closet are the undisputed champs of eyebrow-raising Valley billboards, but these ads are nipping at their heels.

Byron Browne/Browne Law Group
Lawyer ads are mystifying – some are straitlaced; others bring in motorcycles and flames for misguided street cred. Gilbert-based injury attorney Byron Browne shows brains and brawn in these tongue-in-cheek ads. He’s like a Sons of Anarchy extra who passed the bar.

Gila River Hotels & Casinos
Who doesn’t love permission to indulge their id? Gila River Hotels & Casinos reminds us YOLO with this campaign. We miss a recently retired installment, which featured a cowboy sipping a tiki drink – the kind of quirky “You Do You” we can get on board with.

Phoenix Zoo
The billboards for Phoenix Zoo’s “Bugs. BIG BUGS!” animatronic exhibit feel cinematic in their expansion of arachnids and their ilk to epic proportions, with shadows looming over children and anthropod legs dangling above the frames. The ad agency behind the campaign, LaneTerralever, won a slew of ADDY awards and is up for a few OBIES for it.

Meat the Ball
The campaign (and name) for this Biltmore meatball joint owes a debt to Oregano’s, its saucy progenitor in Italian-food double entendre. MTB comes from Stefano Fabbri (Pomo Pizzeria, Mora Italian), so we definitely want to meet/meat/eat all of its balls.
